Building Codes
New building codes and requirements have recently been enacted in several states to provide increased protection of lives and property in areas subject to hurricanes. Because code standards and requirements vary from state-to-state and among local jurisdictions, please check with your local building authority for the most recent code requirements.
Florida The 2010 Florida Building Code went into effect March 15, 2012. Depending on location, builders are required to construct homes to withstand wind speeds of 120 to 180 miles per hour. Homes in the wind-borne debris region, depicted on the map below, require hurricane shutters or impact-resistant windows and doors. PGT® WinGuard® and PremierVue™ products are designed to meet or exceed the requirements of the wind-borne debris region.

Architectural Systems windows and doors feature fewer components to reduce installation time.  They also have strong frames - from three inches on the windows and up to six inches on the sliding glass door - to eliminate common damage during installation or when attaching hardware.  They are designed to be installed easily, without damaging openings, exteriors or interiors.

Our commercial storefront products are factory glazed and fabricated.  There is no need to manage troublesome job site issues of weather, debris and time crunches when trying to glaze a product because we do it for you.

Service is simple, should the product need cleaning, maintenance or even replacement.  Exterior panes, track inserts and more can all be accessed or removed from the inside, eliminating the hassle of reaching the building's windows from the outside.
